One woman took to Reddit to share her recent fashion faux pas — and to ask if she was wrong for feeling upset about it.
In a post on Reddit’s Am I the A—— forum, the woman explained that she had preordered a summer dress back in January or February from an independent designer based in another country. The designer only accepted about 20 orders at that time and allowed for minor alterations to each piece.
“I paid in full upfront,” she wrote. “It was expected to be done around August since mine had more deviation from the original design. So in my head, it was more of a custom piece.”
In August, she reached out for an update, and the designer told her the dress would be ready in two weeks — around early September. The woman said she had no issue with the delay, knowing the garment was being handmade.
However, later that month, she noticed something odd.
“I saw her post my dress in September — I recognized it from the color and design — but there was no update on shipment,” she explained. “I thought maybe it wasn’t quite finished yet.”
Then, on Oct. 7, she spotted a video interview featuring the designer and saw her dress again. This time, it was being worn by another person for the photoshoot.
“I emailed her about the dress,” the Redditor wrote, “and she told me it was ready, but she decided to have it featured in the interview before posting it to me.”
