The Southern Tier’s 6th Annual “Runway for a Cause” fashion show will support the local nonprofit Waverly Community Chest.
The fashion show event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. at the Wings of Eagles Discovery Center in Horseheads and will feature about 50 models and the work of five fashion designers. It also features raffles, a photo booth, and a DJ.
Waverly native and executive director of Runway for a Cause, Jaimie Hand, said that she is excited to give back to her hometown through this event.
“We’ve really got a great array of talent, and people can expect to see incredible craftsmanship,” Hand said.

“The designers we work with do it because they love it. All of them have made all these pieces by hand.”
Hand said the event is a great way to connect with and support a local network of creatives while supporting the broader community.
“We’re really just trying to bring that community aspect into the arts and into our community and keep that engagement and give back to the community while doing it,” Hand said.
Established in 1952, the Waverly Community Chest raises money to distribute for local impact, partnering with organizations like A New Hope Center, Valley Chorus, the Waverly Historical Society, the Waverly Tinsel and Lights event, Open Door Mission, The Bridge of Penn-York Valley, the Waverly Recreation Commission, Camp Ahwaga and others.
“We are super excited because our single donation to the Waverly Community Chest will touch so many more people than just one organization,” Hand said.
Tickets for the event are $30, with VIP tickets granting early entry and exclusive perks set at $55, with the option to add an additional donation. Tickets can be purchased from runwayforacause.org under ‘annual show’ on the site’s events menu.
